Pop
The type of things to expect from a pop video are: bright colours, catchy songs, High key lighting, dancing. an example of a pop singer that is conventional is Britney Spears, Justin Bieber and Cheryl Cole.
Rock
The type of things that rock has are the following: dark colours, messy feel instruments being played (a band). An example of a rock singer is Ozzy Osborne and Elvis Presley.
R and B
R&B has a slow paste, the feel of the video is quite calm and relaxed. An example of a R&B singer is Rihanna, Beyoncé and Iggy.
Hip Hop
Conventional things that are for hip hop would be a fast paste with lots of bright colours.
Country
Things to expect would be: set in the country side, the artist playing an instrument (conventional a guitar) and the song would come across as peaceful. An example of artist that sing country are Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift and Johnny Cash.
Dance
You should expect to see the fast images and films put together. Normally the artist isn't singing and sometimes are not in the video. Artist to reflect this genre are: 5 seconds of summer, Miley Cyrus and 3OH!3.

Conventional pop things within a Music video

Justin Timberlake ft Ciara Love, Sex Magic

At the start there is a close up of the artist kissing. This is made to look seductive to the audience and is convention to a pop music video as it makes the artist seem appealing to the views. The fact that it is a close up makes the scene seem more intimate, which relates to the 

lyrics of the song 'Love Sex Magic'.

There is also lip syncing which is conventional to a music video as the audio has to stay the fame throughout. 

 There is also different types of lights used to enhance the artist. This is conventional for a pop music video as it makes the video seem more visually fun and exiting.
Throughout the video there are many different types of camera shots but the ones that stand out are the long shots, loose frame of the artist dancing, close ups and extreme close ups of the artist body.
Another conventional thing that is used is dancing within the video this makes the song feel more dynamic and makes it more exciting for the audience. A lot of the dancing is used to make the song have a sexy theme to it which related to the song.
 

 The costumes that are used are not you every day wear and are used to make a fashion statement, this is conventional to a pop video as it makes it more visually exciting. They are bright bold colours and in some of the scenes there is use of animal print. This makes them seem aggressive and illuminates them from how the everyday person dresses making the viewer seem like they are watching something that is from a different place. Therefor making a fashion statement.

The lighting within the video is quite dark, however the artist is highlighted within the scene by different lighting. For example, lasers.

Even as the vocals of the artist is still playing the camera stays on the artist and shows them not singing. This makes the video have more than one type of scene for each scene. This also allows the audience to realize that they have filmed it more than once.

Throughout the video the movement is quite slow almost slow motion which makes the video come across as more flirtatious.





 

Conventional pop things within a Music video

Justin Bieber all that matters

• At the start of the video there there is a blue flicker of light coming from the projector. This makes the video look vintage. It is conventional as the color is a bold bright color which is usual found within pop music videos. The color also stimulates purity and sexy at the same time.
• There is also a close up of the girls hand around the artist waste. This makes the audience know that they have love or lust for each other. This is conventional for a music video as in pop videos they sing about love and by touching each other they are implying it.
• When the artist isn't  singing and standing with the girl, the way they move is like its in slow motion, making what he is singing about imply that he wants his love to be for a long and slow time. This is conventional for a pop music video as it makes the artist appear to be more relaxed.
• This music video was filmed in a studio with very few objects around the artist. This makes the audience put all their attention into the main things that are going on. This is conventional to a pop music video as within a pop video the artist normally sing in front of a green screen. 
• Lip syncing is also within this video and is also convention for the type of genre of song.
• Within the video there was a lot of different camera angles used. I felt that the close up of the radio was effective as it was were all the music was coming from making it that power source of the video. The loose frame of the artist was also effective as it made them seem like they were the ones that only mattered. There was also close ups/extreme close ups of their faces kissing, this made it feel more intimate, as well as the close up of their lips. 
• Within each scene there was a change of costume as well which made it feel like it was a different time and scene, making the song feel like its been sung everywhere. I noticed that artist is wearing a lot of jewellery which i would consider a convention factor of a pop music video.

Analysis of pop video

Black Widow Iggy Azalea ft. Rita Ora

Mise en scene 

 The Music video first starts in a dinner where a man and woman are ordering something to eat, although they are not singing at this point it helps the audience understand their characters and what they are singing about. This also allows the audience to see the singers for the first time. Then in the background behind the waitress (Iggy) there is an image of super hero that are woman this allows the audience to understand what the woman is thinking about. This is the introduction to the song then there is a graphic match of the waitress cutting up lettuce to someone waving a sword. Then the scene is in a deserted area with a warrior like woman. Then we see both the singers standing back to back singing and clapping in beat with the song. then we as the audience follow the singers as they go on a journey to try to kill someone. Their costumes within the song are very tight fitting all in ones that are bold colours such as white and black. This is to make the artist look seductive and appealing to their target audience. As this is a pop video its target audience is the younger generation. Throughout the video they use both high and low key lighting to make certain thing stand out and make them more prominent.

Camera work 

At the start of the introduction of there is a medium shot of the artist and the actor walking into the café. This makes it clear to the audience who the song is directed at. Then there is a close up of the mans foot squashing a Black Widow spider. This relates to the song as the song is called Black Widow. Then the screen cuts to a medium shot of the other artist ( Iggy) and introduces her. An over the shoulder shot is used when the waitress takes the customers orders. This allows the audience to see that the waitress has no respect for the male customer and therefor looks down on him. Then there is a pull focus to the café owner who is behind the main artist as she jumps over the table. This show the audience that she has more authority over the waiters.  Then there is a pan of the camera as it follows the waitress to the kitchen. As the waitress enters the kitchen there is tracking as it goes from her legs to her shirt that she is wearing. As it has the name of the burger that the owner previously just referred to. Then there is an over the shoulder shot of the waitress with a poster of two super Hero's on it. Which is how the artist look within the next scene. There is then a graphic match of the waitress cutting a piece of lettuce to a sword swinging. This allows the audience to realize that they are the same person.

 

Editing 

Through out the video it is in slow motion, this works effective as they are fighting as it allows the audience to see the technique behind their fighting then there are moments within the fighting where it goes to its normal paste. This is convention for this type of  pop music video as it contrast to the speed of the song. As the artist is driving there is lots of bright colours passing them. This is to show that they are moving fast and is conventional to a pop music video as pop videos have a lot of bright colours.

T.H.E Will.I.Am ft Jennifer Lopez

Mise en scene

The location of this is set in a deserted area that seems to be an aeroplane run way. There is no one around which is unusual for an everyday event, this makes the video seem more intimate and direct the audience attention completely to the singers and their performance. The props that they use are the latest gadgets at the time, from a HP mobile phone to a rocket. Some of the logos where BMW Beats for headphones. The costumes that the artist wore are natural and are all white to represent purity and are bright to match the 'pop culture' music video. As well as their costumes all the props were white. The lighting is day light.

Sound

The music of the video has a very prominent base and stays in the background of the song the whole way through. This sound was made very robotic and made it sound vet futuristic.Within the music video the artist are miming the words which is usual for a music video. In this song Will.I.Am is the lead singer however Jennifer Lopez sings the chorus. Its overstuffed and denser with lots of parts, its full of looped chainsaw like-beats. The chorus is almost a robotic delivery. A lot of the words are repeated in the song.

Editing

There is editing throughout the video of a cut, montage, match on action and others. Throughout the video there are many different camera angle changes as the main singer crashes through brick wall using special effects. The editing was in parts as it is Traveling from the ground up into space. There is special effects on putting Jennifer Lopez onto the brick walls.

Performance

Throughout the video the artist are lip syncing, this is typical for a music video. Through out the video William keeps moving forward. Where as Jennifer Lopez stays in the same place, where she is dancing. As he is running it seems as if he is trying to beat time. He is acting strong and hard as he breaks into the brick wall. As he overcomes different obstacles the vehicle changes.
